Top-10 narrowly missed
For the first time this season, moreover on the occasion of the team’s home GP, Haas failed to achieve a top-10 finish, although coming very close to the target on the Miami circuit. The closest to the points zone among the two drivers of the stars and stripes team was Oliver Bearman, 11th, followed by Esteban Ocon, 13th behind Gabriel Bortoleto. These results push Haas from 4th place in the Constructors’ Championship to 6th, due to Verstappen’s arrival in 5th and Colapinto’s in 7th, with the Alpine driver securing his first top ten finish.

Disappointment not 100%
A weekend that partly satisfies Bearman, with the 20-year-old aiming to make up for it at the next race in Canada: “It was a really tight fight. I’m a bit disappointed, but as I already said this weekend, maybe we expected a tougher race, since we didn’t bring updates to the car. That said, I think we can be happy with our work, since we came close to the points zone, but unfortunately not enough. The race didn’t go our way, as we had a retirement ahead of us, and on the first lap I slipped back. However, with the updates we will bring to the next race in Montreal, we hope to be more competitive.”

What to study?
Points to review with the team also for Esteban Ocon, especially after a certain moment in the race: “We were trying to have a good race, but unfortunately after the pit stop it was no longer like that, so we need to analyze the situation. I think it would have been difficult to score points because we lacked a bit of pace and it was quite complicated to stay on track and find a good rhythm. We had some tire degradation because we were pushing hard. There are still many positive aspects to learn from and many good lessons for us. Now we think about Montreal and we look forward to seeing what we can do.”
