It is logical that in these moments the sporting aspect takes a back seat and one wonders how to make two-wheel competition safer. For Marco Bezzecchi, however, there is no answer. Or, even if there had been one, it would not have prevented the accidents at the Catalonia GP.
Bezzecchi’s words
“Many times from the outside you don’t realize all the risks you take and how close we all are to the thousandth. It’s true that the bikes are fast, but these were two accidents that could have happened the same way with other bikes: unfortunately Pedro had a problem, and Alex, if he had been that close with a bike without aerodynamics and without electronics, would have caught him anyway. And this also applies to Zarco, because when you are in a group it is very easy to touch. So I don’t think it’s just a bike issue, but something that unfortunately is part of our sport“, this was his comment to Sky Sport MotoGP. “The danger is always at the same level. This sport, as beautiful as it is, is dangerous, and sometimes we don’t realize the risks we take until days like yesterday come, where these things happen that we hope never happen. Fortunately, such serious accidents happen rarely. Johann’s was really unlucky. And Pedro also had that technical issue right on the straight. Unfortunately, these are the risks of our profession“.

About the tests, finishing in 11th position, Bezzecchi added: “We didn’t complete the program because the weather stopped us, but we did a good job. We did some interesting tests in terms of setting, I tried something in terms of riding and for what we rode I am quite happy“.
