It was a weekend to forget for Jorge Martin. The 2024 world champion arrived on Sunday with four crashes under his belt and a mild concussion suffered on Friday. The Montmeló GP seemed to offer a bright spot in his weekend, despite the fear for the accidents of Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco. Instead, another zero came: the “friendly” fire came from Raul Fernandez of Aprilia Trackhouse, who took him down in turn 5 on the third start with a move judged a racing incident.

Martin and Fernandez managed to restart, but clearly their race was compromised by the incident. The #89, after the checkered flag, returned to the pits furious about the maneuver of his brand teammate, and took it out on the team, evidently accusing them of poor management of the satellite team: first he ironically applauded, then he shouted at CEO Massimo Rivola and even pushed Race Manager Paolo Bonora, who was simply trying to calm him down.

About his weekend, the Spaniard added to Sky Sport MotoGP: “I felt better each time, I was ready to fight for the win in a complicated weekend. This is the positive aspect, let’s keep going because even on such a difficult track for us we are doing well. I don’t want to comment on the incident because it makes no sense, everyone can watch it on TV. We are strong, that’s what matters“.
