Ducati, what a pair with Marquez and Acosta
2027 could be the breakthrough year for Pedro Acosta. The Spaniard has yet to achieve his first MotoGP victory, but his talent has not gone unnoticed by Gigi Dall’Igna, who strongly wanted him at Ducati starting next season to form a super duo with Marc Marquez.

If it won’t be a breakthrough career-wise, it will certainly be on a personal level. Acosta grew up entirely in KTM, which over time became a family for the Tiburón. After the financial crisis that hit the Austrians, it was time to raise the bar and look for a team that would give him the opportunity to fulfill his world championship dream. Who better than Ducati? No one. Even if in the team he will have an epochal champion like Marquez.
Acosta’s words about Marquez
Acosta, however, does not want to start defeated in the comparison with Marquez: “It’s a great opportunity. He is one of the strongest riders in history and has enormous experience. Having the chance to see how he works, compare data, and understand where he makes the difference will be very interesting. Naturally he will also be a rival. When you’re on track you want to beat everyone, including your teammate, but I believe you can learn a lot from a rider like him,” this was Acosta’s comment to AUTOHebdo.
“My goal remains to become world champion, certainly, I race for this. Being in MotoGP is not enough for me. I want to win races and fight for the championship. I know it’s not easy, and that the level in MotoGP is incredible. But I believe in my abilities, I have to improve and wait for the right moment,” he added. “First of all, I will have to learn. I will ride a new bike, be in a new team, and face a new way of working. I can’t think of arriving and immediately knowing everything. I will have to listen, understand how the bike works, and adapt my riding style. Naturally Ducati is extremely competitive and this represents a great opportunity. But being on a competitive bike also brings greater pressure: when you have the tools to win, it is expected that you win.”
It would be unfair to expect Acosta to be competitive from the first GP, both because Marquez has demolished every teammate (even those who have won World Championships, let alone those who have not won a single race) and because MotoGP is on the eve of a technical revolution that Marquez himself has experienced firsthand with Ducati in recent months.
