Hyundai INSTEROID is the concept car with which the South Korean brand pushed the idea of design beyond simple form, blending the language of electric cars with that of video games. Not as a decorative effect, therefore, but as a strategy to rethink the driving experience. More than a style exercise, the project presents itself as a creative manifesto capable of redefining the relationship between user, product, and pop imagery, in a future where the car is an interactive, emotional, and customizable space.

Hyundai INSTEROID goes beyond simple form
Born from Hyundai’s European design team, INSTEROID fits into the tradition of concepts as experimental platforms: they anticipate materials, interactions, and atmospheres destined to later migrate into series production. While on the high-performance front the experimental role is entrusted to the Rolling Labs linked to N, here the field is electric urban mobility, understood as an area where expressive freedom can also become a test of new meanings. The starting point is INSTER, the super-compact 100% electric. From that base, INSTEROID makes a leap in scale and attitude: the name, born from the fusion of INSTER and STEROID, stands out for a lower posture, a wider track, and aerodynamic details with immediate impact.
Racing tone exterior
If the exterior reinforces the racing tone with a rear wing spoiler, diffuser, air vents in the wheel arches, and wheels with an aggressive design, the interior completes the blend with gaming through an immersive and customization-oriented driving position. Bucket seats, roll-bar, and a dedicated steering wheel transform the cabin into a place to intervene, configure, and make your own. Consistent with Hyundai’s vision of future mobility, creativity is also supported by technical choices and materials. In this sense, we find lightweight lattice structures to optimize performance and reduce weight, and 3D knitted fabric upholstery made with recycled yarns through a custom one-piece process.
