Sainz asks FIA and FOM to be uncompromising
“There is a very interesting proposal for 2027, a proposal perfectly in line with the direction that in my opinion this sport should take. But unfortunately, as always happens, politics and the individual interests of the manufacturers are involved, who will oppose and try to steer things according to what they need”, Sainz said on Friday in Montreal.
The Williams driver then continued: “I ask the FIA and FOM to be uncompromising on what they believe is right for the sport and, even if a vote is necessary, to stand firm in their convictions and believe in what is right for the sport. If they were to ask only the drivers, we would all be in favor of going in that direction from 2027. Electric should be an addition and not something to be dependent on as it is now. The 60:40 split is never enough for the drivers, but we could race while waiting for real racing and real engines to return in 2030,” Sainz concluded.
