Stellantis and Dongfeng Group have announced the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement designed to further expand a partnership that has lasted 34 years. The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in the production of Peugeot and Jeep branded vehicles in China, with the goal of serving the Chinese market and also supporting exports to other markets. At the same time, the two companies have signed a non-binding strategic MoU to deepen cooperation, leveraging their respective industrial scale, expertise, and research and development capabilities.

Stellantis and Dongfeng, agreement for China
According to the agreement, starting from 2027 the joint venture Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile Co. is expected to produce at the Wuhan plant initially two new energy vehicles (NEV) under the Peugeot brand. The models, intended for the Chinese market and export to global markets, will feature a new design identity inspired by the concept cars unveiled at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, fitting into Peugeot’s international growth plan. Also from 2027, the program foresees the start of production, in Wuhan, of two NEV off-road vehicles under the Jeep brand destined for global markets.
Jeep and Peugeot in the spotlight
The project also intends to benefit from the favorable industrial policies of the automotive sector in Hubei province and the municipality of Wuhan. The total investment exceeds 8 billion Chinese yuan (about 1 billion euros), with a planned contribution from Stellantis of about 130 million euros. Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis, emphasized the desire to leverage shared strengths and introduce completely new vehicles equipped with cutting-edge electric technologies, while Qing YANG, President of Dongfeng Group, highlighted how the cooperation opens “a new path” based on complementary synergies and shared advantages.
