In April, Tesla registrations continued to show signs of recovery in Europe, with positive signals especially in France, Denmark, and the Netherlands. In a context where competition is becoming increasingly intense, Chinese rivals, including BYD, have continued to erode the market share of the American manufacturer. Meanwhile, the sales of Musk’s company have shown a strong recovery during the year in Europe, arriving after two consecutive annual declines, culminating in 2025 with a decrease of almost 27%.
Tesla continues its recovery in Europe
The dynamics of the European market also seem supported by factors external to just brand competition. In the first quarter, in fact, overall sales of the electric vehicle segment increased by almost 45% across the continent, while interest in new and used cars has grown rapidly since the beginning of the conflict between Israel and Iran (February 28), with a consequent increase in fuel prices. Further boosting Tesla in Europe, there was also the regulatory push: the Dutch authority RDW has approved the use of driver assistance software, initiating the procedure to request approval at the EU level. The technology, offered by Tesla through a monthly subscription, can help make the brand more attractive in markets where trust in assisted driving systems influences purchasing decisions.

Reduced and outdated range
The recovery remains partial and occurs in a context of limited supply. Tesla, in fact, approaches the market with a reduced and outdated range, consisting of only two models, and has not launched a new mass vehicle since the 2020 Model Y. Despite this, indirect sales indicators show several improvements: according to Bilstatistik.dk, Tesla registrations grew by 102% in Denmark in April compared to the previous year, while in France the increase would be 112% according to PFA and in the Netherlands 23% according to BOVAG.
