New entry in 2027
The Canary Islands Rally, currently underway this weekend, is obviously attracting the attention of enthusiasts worldwide to the Spanish routes, with lovers of timed challenges who can at the same time look to the future with the certainty of an all-Iberian novelty: for 2027, in fact, RMC Motorsport and RFEDA (Real Federación Española de Automovilismo) have announced a collaboration for entry into Rally1 as an official manufacturer. A unique piece of news in the history of the WRC, given that never before has a FIA member promoted the birth of a promoter (who, with future regulations, can be recognized as a manufacturer) in the world rally championship.

The second promoter
Previously, at the end of 2025, the entry of another preparer like Project Rally One had been announced, with the two new entities thus seizing the opportunity to design a car following the regulations that will be introduced by the FIA specifically for 2027: these, for both major brands and independent preparers, include a cost-controlled platform (maximum ceiling of 345,000 euros), a tubular safety cell, all-wheel drive, and a 1.6 turbo engine powered by sustainable fuel.
An opportunity that RFEDA did not want to miss, as confirmed by Manuel Aviñó, President of the Real Federación Española de Automovilismo and FIA Vice-President for Sport Europe: “We could not let slip the opportunity offered by the FIA to involve preparers like RMC in the production of the 2027 Rally1 cars. This agreement with RMC also fulfills several objectives I set at the beginning of my mandate at RFEDA. As President, it is a source of great pride to be part of a project that will undoubtedly strengthen the quality and recognition of the Spanish motorsport industry, also serving as a reference and inspiration for our drivers in their sporting careers. I would particularly like to thank Roberto Méndez for his determination in tackling such a demanding challenge”.

Awaiting the debut scheduled for the next world championship, the comment from Roberto Mendez, founder of RMC Motorsport, could obviously not be missing: “This project represents the professional culmination of RMC’s journey. With the vast experience gained in building N5 vehicles that compete across different continents, we now enthusiastically embrace the opportunity to develop the new 2027 FIA Rally1 car. The support of RFEDA, under the leadership of Manuel Aviñó, is fundamental to the project’s success. We are working intensely and will soon be able to share more detailed technical information about the new car”.
