Smart Concept #2, two-seater electric icon

Smart Concept #2 is more than just a style exercise: it’s a true “break from the mold” to rethink urban mobility starting from an icon. During the Smart Global Brand Event 2026 in Beijing, an event dedicated to the theme “Change of Perspectives,” the brand presented the prototype in a world premiere, declaring its precise objective: to bring the historic two-seater dimension back to the center, but transforming it into an electric and contemporary key. The Concept #2 thus becomes a declaration of intent and a technological laboratory.

The turning point lies in the approach: the Concept #2 is built on the new Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform, specifically designed to offer advanced electric performance within a city format. Among the shared data, a declared range of up to approximately 300 kilometers emerges, extensively designed to cover daily urban needs, and fast DC charging that allows going from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes. Not just mobility, however: the vehicle also integrates the Vehicle-to-Load function, useful for powering external devices and expanding the car’s utility beyond simple travel, making it a practical hub for everyday life.

The technical and spatial setup also contributes to enhancing the idea of “urban agility”: wheels placed at the extreme corners of the body optimize interior space, while a turning radius of just 6.95 meters aims to ensure maneuverability in complex scenarios such as tight parking spaces and intense city traffic. And while the Concept #2 anticipates the future production Smart #2, whose official debut is scheduled for Paris in October, the brand also confirms its growth strategy by presenting the Smart #6 EHD, an entry into the premium fastback segment with long-range Electric Hybrid Drive technology. It will initially be aimed at the Chinese market.
