The acceleration of demand in Europe and North America gave momentum to Toyota’s sales in January, updating the all-time global record. According to data released by the world’s leading automaker by volume, 822.577 vehicles were sold in the first month of the year, with an increase of 4,7% year-on-year. Not a trivial growth, in light of the uncertainties regarding the Trump administration’s tariff policies.

Toyota, record sales in the world
The result highlights how the strength of demand in key markets has managed to offset, at least temporarily, the concerns related to regulatory changes and possible customs duties that could weigh on costs and sales prices. Analyzing geographical areas, North America recorded a growth of 7,5%, with 205.582 units sold, driven by the success of the Corolla and Camry models. In Europe deliveries increased by 11,5%, reaching 104.725 units, a sign of a recovery in demand in the Old Continent after recent slowdowns.

On the production front, however, Toyota reports a decline of 6% to just over 735.000 units, indicative of possible adjustments in the supply chain. In recent years, the Japanese group has maintained a diversified strategy, focusing on plug-in hybrids and full hybrids as bridge solutions in the transition to electric mobility. Trade tensions and tariff volatility remain risk factors for projections towards 2026.
