The Italian car market grew by 7.6% in March compared to the same month in 2025, with 185,367 registrations. In this context the Toyota Group emerges strengthened consolidating its leadership among importers. With 12,000 registrations in March and a total of 33,320 units in the first quarter, the Japanese giant reaches an overall market share of 6.8% (-0.8 percentage points compared to a year ago).

Toyota leader of the hybrid market
Success is driven by the brand’s multi-technology strategy and, in particular, by the excellent performance of the Full Hybrid range. In March and in the quarter, Toyota confirms itself as the undisputed leader of the hybrid market with a relative share of about 40%. On the podium of the best-selling models are Aygo X, Yaris Cross and Yaris: focus on the first, which in the first three months since launch recorded about 9,700 units, confirming itself as the best-selling Toyota model.

Leadership in 19 Italian cities
The positive impact of Aygo X allowed the Japanese manufacturer to be the best-selling brand in 19 Italian cities, including Rome, Milan, Bologna, Mantua, Modena and Monza, confirming the widespread distribution of the brand even in medium and small-sized urban centers. In the premium segment, which in March marked a growth of about 4% with 33,329 units, Lexus maintains a solid position: with 639 registrations and a share of 1.9% the brand shows substantial stability compared to last year. Supporting Lexus’s presence in the high-end range is primarily the LBX compact SUV, which remains steadily on the podium of its category with a market share of around 10%.
