The final race of Formula E season 12 started with a big question mark: who will be the 2025/2026 world champion? The answer came at the ExCel Exhibition Center in London, with the ‘gold medal’ awarded to Pascal Wehrlein. A success in some ways expected and historic for the German Porsche driver, who became the second in the 100% electric category to achieve more than one world title. Specifically, the former Formula 1 driver equaled Jean-Eric Vergne, who was crowned world champion consecutively in 2017/2018 and 2018/2019.

What the Frenchman from Citroen and Wehrlein have in common are the titles won with the same team: while Vergne reached the top of the world with DS Techeetah, Wehrlein did so with Porsche. The just concluded world championship was the last to see the participation of Sébastien Buemi and Lucas Di Grassi, respectively champions in seasons 2 and 3 after the first world title won by Nelson Piquet Jr.
