On the eve of the last race of the championship, the favorite to win the 2025/2026 Drivers’ World Title was Pascal Wehrlein, and the outcome indeed favored the German Porsche driver. After his first world victory in the 2023/2024 season, the German repeated the feat at the end of season 12, but in a finale that seriously questioned his win after several contacts with Da Costa, a spin in the last laps, and a comeback from Mitch Evans that did not end in favor of the New Zealander, although the latter still closed his experience with the Jaguar team on a high note by contributing to the teams’ title victory.

Race report
Just like in yesterday’s race, the top five positions remained unchanged during the first lap, with the Mahindras of De Vries and Mortara leading, followed by Wehrlein, who was in turn defended by teammate Müller, repeatedly attacked by Evans. The battle between the latter continued until the 5th lap, during which Da Costa suddenly moved into third position thanks to the activation of the first Attack Mode. A strategy soon copied by Wehrlein to immediately recover the podium zone, but the duel between the two, already very close, favored Barnard, with the Portuguese Jaguar driver remaining 4th ahead of the German Porsche driver. Meanwhile, Müller continued to defend his teammate, at least until the 17th lap, when Evans made an excellent overtake for eighth place. From that moment, the race proceeded calmly, at least until nine laps from the end: thanks to his second Attack Mode, Evans got the better of Da Costa and Wehrlein, with the Portuguese Jaguar driver repelling the attacks of the latter with questionable maneuvers, pushing him down to 12th place. The incident that generated the most tension, however, occurred three laps from the end: following numerous maneuvers by Da Costa, Wehrlein tried to overtake Dennis to stay in the fight for the world title, but in the chaos he came into contact with Eriksson, who spun. At that point, the German seriously risked losing the title victory to the other Jaguar of Evans, 4th and with an Attack Mode still available. However, there was nothing the New Zealander could do, with a final result that left him 5 points behind Wehrlein in the overall standings, with the latter becoming Formula E world champion for the second time.

For Jaguar, despite Taylor Barnard’s race win and the podium completed by the Mahindras of De Vries and Mortara, there is the ‘consolation’ of the Teams’ title, with Porsche having already arrived in London as Constructors’ World Champions. Thus ends season number 12 for Formula E, but above all an important chapter of the 100% electric category; the 2025/2026 championship was indeed the last of GEN3, with the next world championship (whose calendar is already known) seeing the debut of the new GEN4 cars. So goodbye to the new era, awaiting news in the driver market.
