Italy has awakened
If Ferrari for the moment shows no signs of recovery, the return of the Italian anthem on the Formula 1 podium was guaranteed by Andrea Kimi Antonelli who achieved a sensational hat-trick of victories between China, Japan, and Miami. The 19-year-old from Bologna is the new world championship leader and is becoming an increasingly recognized and familiar figure to the Italian public, and is beginning to cross the boundaries of motorsport.

Wolff protects Kimi
On the sidelines of the Miami success, which saw Antonelli extend his lead in the drivers’ world championship and now stands at +20 over Russell, Toto Wolff played the role of firefighter and seemed more determined than ever to dampen the excessive euphoria around his young driver.
“The easiest part is making sure he keeps his feet on the ground within the team and in this sense his parents have done an excellent job,” Wolff began, adding: “The biggest problem is the Italian public. Now that they did not qualify for the World Cup, everyone talks only about Sinner and Antonelli. I think Sinner won in Madrid, they are two superstars and it is something we have to contain.”

Wolff then concluded: “There are so many requests that absorb his time. It is up to us to keep the handbrake on. We really have to stay calm. Such a success for such a young boy means that all of Italy will have their eyes on him.”
