Antonelli, another bad start
The starting phase continues to be the punctum dolens of Kimi Antonelli: even in the Miami Sprint he was the protagonist of a bad start, slipping and losing traction. Passed by Charles Leclerc and – for a moment – by George Russell, the Bolognese was affected throughout the short race, which was fought and a chase when it could have been at the top. The penalty for repeatedly exceeding the track limits was the most predictable consequence of this lack of experience: Antonelli dropped from fourth to sixth place and now will have to redeem himself in qualifying.

It all started from that uncertain start, the team principal Toto Wolff seems convinced of it too. The Austrian cleared Antonelli, stating that at the start #12 executed all procedures perfectly but was tricked by a Mercedes problem.

“It was difficult to recover from that bad start, which was not Kimi’s fault at all,” admitted the Austrian. “The problem was there, yes, but on our side.”

“The start, from a procedural point of view, went well,” added Antonelli. “We need to understand what happened, because the clutch release was perfect. On my part, I think I did everything the right way, for once. It was a shame to start so badly again, because this compromised the entire race.”
