Wolff “scolds” Mercedes towards Spa
Mercedes was undoubtedly the reference car at the start of the regulatory cycle, but the technical superiority did not translate into the advantage that Toto Wolff hoped to have approaching the summer break. The “fault” lies with Ferrari’s progress, winning at Montmeló and Silverstone, a few points that Kimi Antonelli and George Russell took from each other, and especially the too many “zeros” that the drivers have accumulated so far: four (two each) and never due to driving errors. This is why Toto Wolff wanted to scold Mercedes ahead of the Spa appointment, where they will once again arrive as favorites; but, as the Austrian says, being fast is useless if you don’t finish the GPs.

Wolff’s words
“The last races have highlighted both our strengths and the areas we need to improve. We have a car capable of fighting in the top positions and scoring many points, but we have not been able to translate that potential into the best possible results. Reliability issues have cost us points and, in such a competitive championship, it is something we cannot afford. It is useless to have the right pace if we do not bring home the result,” said the Austrian.
“Spa is one of the great challenges of the calendar. As at Silverstone, energy management will play an important role, but the characteristics of the circuit pose different demands,” he added. “It usually offers exciting races and real overtaking opportunities, while qualifying remains a significant test.”

“This is the last double-header before the summer break and we want to arrive with a positive note. Our goal is to execute everything flawlessly, ensure the reliability we need, and convert the car’s performance into the points it is capable of scoring. Lately, we have left too much on the field. We must make sure this does not happen anymore, starting this weekend.”
