Mercedes still ahead
After Australia, China also seems to be a land of conquest for Mercedes, which without too much effort brought home the front row of the Sprint Qualifying, again with George Russell first and Andrea Kimi Antonelli second.
Toto Wolff appeared on Sky Germany, trying to divert attention to the Mercedes engine, which is always at the center of the rival teams’ attention: “I am really satisfied, there is a good gap to the others. Our big advantage here is mainly in the corners. Pierre Gasly with Alpine probably had the best performance on the straights“.

The customer teams case
Wolff then wanted to return to Sky UK on the case relating to the exchange of information with customer teams. The occasion is propitious, given that today McLaren moved up to third and fifth place: “Everyone has a different concept and, without going into details, McLaren has made some very different decisions from ours, for example on gear ratios. And this could be positive or negative. The works teams have an advantage, but it’s only a matter of time. The others have the same hardware and the same software. I have no doubt that McLaren has a formidable structure and it won’t be long before they are fighting for the top positions”.
