Sainz, lucidity at the service of Williams
Williams did not start well in the new regulatory cycle, but it has all the tools to soon get back on track. The Grove team can count, in fact, on a solid structure and on two reliable drivers – Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon – capable of achieving results even in difficult conditions.

The Spaniard is also a specialist in involving the team, motivating it and leading it, increasing everyone’s performance and thus obtaining a more competitive car. At Renault, McLaren and Ferrari, Smooth Operator made himself liked with an always professional and methodical approach, leaving these teams in better conditions than when he arrived. Now with Williams the challenge is tougher, but the pit wall boss James Vowles has no doubts about the Grove team’s ability to recover, also thanks to the leadership of #55.

“As much as Carlos doesn’t want to admit it, I would gladly give him my place. He is truly fantastic, and he is great at leading the team. I think he has all the qualities to be a team principal, without a doubt. We need to give him some support, but he has all the skills to make it,” these are Vowles’ words.

In the first three GPs Sainz was the only one to bring points home for Williams. Currently the FW48 is the ninth force on track, but Albon is convinced that with the Miami updates the main problem of the car will be solved, namely the over 20 kg excess weight.
