Volvo is reacting to higher-than-expected demand by increasing production volumes for 2026 of its new fully electric SUV EX60. Less than a month after its presentation, almost all major European markets have recorded customer orders well beyond internal forecasts: Sweden alone counts over 3.000 reservations, all supported by a new offer that focuses on simplicity, transparency, and precision and includes three years of free home charging.

Volvo EX60, orders are soaring
The pace of orders for the EX60 SUV is also significantly higher than that recorded at the debut of the EX30 in 2023, a sign of strong interest in a higher-end model that combines range and practicality. While prioritizing a solid and prudent production ramp-up to ensure maximum quality, the Swedish company is already planning to increase production of its electric SUV at the Torslanda plant in Sweden. Volvo is in dialogue with the main trade unions to keep the plant open an additional week during the summer, a solution that, in case of approval, would be a historic first for the company.

Increased production
It is important to emphasize that, so far, orders have only been opened in European markets. The opening of orders for the USA is scheduled for late spring, which suggests further growth in demand in the coming months. “The fact that so many customers ordered the new EX60 SUV in the first month has exceeded our best expectations and is a positive problem to deal with,” said Erik Severinson, Chief Commercial Officer of Volvo Cars.
