Volvo continues to invest and focus on safety. The Swedish company has announced that it will launch new “Connected Safety” features to warn drivers of hazards on the road, allowing them more time to react and therefore drive more safely. But not only safety: within the same software update, owners of the EX90 and ES90 models will be able to enjoy the Spatial Audio feature available on Apple CarPlay.

Volvo focuses on connected safety
Let’s start with Volvo’s connected safety technology that allows you to receive real-time hazard alerts based on data shared by other cars. The latest software update, the company explains, introduces four new types of alerts. It starts with “Large Animal,” which warns other drivers if a large animal is detected on or near the road. Then there is “Vulnerable Road Users,” which alerts motorists when pedestrians and cyclists are detected on or near the road. There is also the “Roadworks” alert, which indicates to drivers the presence of roadworks along the route.
Finally, the “Accident Ahead” alert warns drivers of accidents further along the route.
The audio experience also improves
Available on the EX90, ES90, and EX60 models, these features complement existing functions such as the “Slippery Road Surface” and “Hazard Lights On” alerts. As mentioned, the latest software update also adds compatibility with CarPlay Spatial Audio for the EX90 and ES90 models, thanks to Dolby Atmos technology. The result: those driving a Volvo can now enjoy an even more immersive multidimensional sound experience.
