So many difficulties at Red Bull
The Nurburgring break is over and for Max Verstappen it was time to return to the harsh reality of a Red Bull that does not satisfy him in performance. The Sprint Qualifying of the Canadian GP clearly showed the role of the fourth force on the grid for the Milton Keynes team, with the Dutchman setting the seventh fastest time, just ahead of his teammate Isack Hadjar. Interviewed by the official F1 channel at the end of the day, Verstappen did not hide the many problems afflicting the RB22.

“Mercedes, McLaren and Ferrari ahead? I’m not surprised – commented the four-time world champion – my feeling in the car was not good. We struggled a lot with the car setup. Over all the bumps I couldn’t push at maximum. This obviously made it very difficult to try to be consistent: it is something we need to investigate. Step forward from FP1 to Sprint Qualifying? No, not at all. Obviously for the Sprint we have the setup locked, but there are a few things to analyze and then we hope the situation improves a bit for qualifying”.
Hadjar in contact with Max
Difficulty was also highlighted by Isack Hadjar, who still managed to stay close to his teammate, losing only one tenth: “I felt strong in the first two phases of qualifying and finally had a good feeling in SQ3, so I am happy with that last lap, but I couldn’t try the soft tires enough during free practice and so I had few reference points. We solved some problems we had in Miami, which is reassuring, but we are still struggling with the setup and losing a lot of time. Even though there is grip, we can’t exploit it. It’s not a track that favors us, so it could be a somewhat complicated weekend“.
