The skirmishes between Max Verstappen and Juancho continue
Juan Pablo Montoya and Max Verstappen had a bit of a spat during the Canadian GP weekend, which the former Colombian driver attended in person, following the races from the paddock. Always divisive and never trivial, the 50-year-old has returned to talk about the four-time world champion and his possible future destinations in case he decides to leave Red Bull to seek success elsewhere. According to Juancho, interviewed by the betting site TalkSPORT BET, the Dutchman could indeed be pushed to accept McLaren’s courtship where he would join his friend and teammate of many successes Gianpiero Lambiase (who will arrive in Woking in 2028).

Juan Pablo Montoya’s opinion on the Dutchman’s future
“There are two aspects to consider – explains Juan Pablo Montoya – and the first is the arrival of Gianpiero Lambiase at McLaren. So I think that if Max were to change teams, he would end up at McLaren. Given how Kimi is doing right now, it would make no sense for Toto to hire Max. It makes no sense to have this guy who wins every week, who currently seems destined to break every record. He has probably already achieved more success than anyone else at his age. Moreover, he is in a great working environment with George, who is excellent at teamwork, well-mannered, and respects team orders”.

Of course, there is another jab at Max Verstappen, whom he paradoxically considers “too Latin” and a potential troublemaker who would break the harmony within Toto Wolff‘s box: “Why would you bring someone into the team who causes problems? During the Montreal weekend, Toto told my wife that Kimi and George are not easy to manage, but that he manages. Then he told her ‘If I had to manage your husband, then yes, that would have been complicated!’. And that’s the Latin spirit… Max has that Latin attitude where he simply wants to give his best at every moment. That’s what makes him great. At the same time, if you have invested so much in a guy like Antonelli, why would you bring someone like Max Verstappen into your team?”.
