2027 engine rules, what a mess
As reported in recent days, the FIA plan announced last May 8 to modify the current F1 regulations is gradually falling apart.
A preliminary agreement had been reached between the Federation, FOM, teams, and engine manufacturers, but in subsequent talks, cracks have emerged that are difficult to overcome. Some engine manufacturers complained about the extra costs to redesign the current power units to ensure a higher fuel flow, others pointed out how the ADUO mechanism risks backfiring with this decision, while several teams have no intention of modifying the chassis to install larger fuel tanks.
In short, the 60:40 split between thermal and electric for 2027 already seems like a mirage and the parties seem inclined to postpone it to 2028.

Verstappen is furious: “Then I quit!”
After the Canadian Grand Prix qualifying, Max Verstappen took a strong stance on what is happening, although he had declared just yesterday morning that he intended to stay in F1 in 2027 “unless incredible things happen and promises are kept.”
Well, these incredible things seem to be about to happen. Max did not at all appreciate the possible hypothesis of postponing the 60:40 split by one year: “If things continue like this, next year looks long and difficult, which I do not want. Mentally, for me, it is simply unsustainable to continue like this. Really, it’s impossible.”
In short, Verstappen again hinted at the possibility of leaving F1: “A sabbatical year and return in 2028? No. There are many other fun things to do outside of here.”
