Verstappen against the F1 regulations, a new chapter
A few weeks ago, at the Austrian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were the protagonists of a brilliant duel in the early stages of the race. A challenge, between the two great rivals, that for a moment took the clock back to 2021. The confrontation was ultimately won by Verstappen, who first had to withstand the excellent defense of the Ferrari driver but then, in the following lap, managed to pull off a spectacular overtake that helped him on the way to securing second place in that GP.

The Dutchman, precisely for that won duel, was also awarded by the fans with the best overtake of the month prize which was presented to him during the Spa-Francorchamps weekend on the Fan Area stage. Here, however, Verstappen wanted to carry on his battle against the 2026 regulations and decidedly ‘demystified’ his own maneuver. To the interviewer who was with him on stage and asked him to comment on the overtake, Verstappen replied in an amused manner.

“Should I say something now? – Verstappen asked ironically – well, I pressed my battery button and so I had more power than Lewis and then I went inside. Before I had tried on the outside and that was also a nice duel“. The statement of the four-time world champion, which probably was not liked by the F1 higher-ups, on the other hand triggered the laughter and applause of the audience present in Belgium. Certainly, more than any battle on track, the most exciting duel of this 2026 seems to be the one between Verstappen and the current technical regulations of the sport.
