Fernandez and Ogura out of control
In the crazy, chaotic, and dramatic race in Barcelona, affected by two terrible major accidents, the Trackhouse team once again stood out, but this time in a totally negative way. The two drivers of the American team, Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura, in fact took down – there is no other term to use – two title contenders: Jorge Martin and Pedro Acosta. Everything happened in the 12 laps of the ‘second race’, after the two red flags.

On the first lap of the third restart, Fernandez, who was in third position at that moment, attempted a completely over-the-top attack on Martin at turn 5, hitting him and knocking him down, while he himself went wide into the gravel. A completely out-of-control maneuver that sparked the obvious furious reaction from the Noale factory box, especially considering that the Trackhouse team is a customer of Aprilia. Massimo Rivola, top executive of Aprilia, furious, went during the race to complain to Davide Brivio in the American box. Martin himself, who then continued the race finishing last, understandably appeared very angry towards his teammate when returning to the pits.

The other disaster was caused by Ai Ogura who, at the last corner during the final lap, attempted a completely reckless attack on Pedro Acosta to snatch fourth position from him. However, the maneuver was very poorly judged by the Japanese rider who hit the KTM Shark, sending him into the gravel. After the race, Ogura was penalized by three seconds – equivalent to a Long Lap Penalty – and thus dropped from fourth to ninth position. Certainly, Trackhouse did not celebrate Davide Brivio in the best way, who yesterday announced his departure from the team at the end of the season to join the Honda HRC team.
