VR46 celebrates
It had been since the 2023 Indian GP that VR46 had not celebrated a victory in MotoGP. Back then, it was Marco Bezzecchi who brought the Tavullia team to the top step of the podium, this time it is Fabio Di Giannantonio who hits the mark again after a nightmare Sunday in which the Roman rider also took a big risk.
Pedro Acosta’s technical failure, in fact, triggered a pile-up that also involved Di Giannantonio, hit by debris from Alex Marquez’s Ducati which was completely shattered.
The VR46 rider fell, suffering some pain in his left hand, but got back on the bike and with great determination achieved a victory that brings him to -24 from Marco Bezzecchi in the Riders’ standings.
Valentino Rossi did not hide all his joy at the end of a thrilling Sunday: “What a scare, it was tough, we were right there – the Doctor’s words to Sky – Di Giannantonio even got hurt but he was tough, a dragon, an animal, he was really strong to come back, he had an incredible race. He was very fast, made all the overtakes as he had to, didn’t make any mistakes and then in the last two laps he had 7-8 tenths of a second pace more than everyone else. We are very proud of him and for the team it is a great victory”.
