Second fastest time for De Vries
Friday’s free practice at Imola ended with Alpine ahead of Toyota and Ferrari. The A424 #35 of Charles Milesi was the fastest in 1:30.898 ahead of the Toyota #7 of Nyck de Vries, 114 thousandths behind.

“It was nice to kick off the race weekend with free practice – said the team principal and driver of #7 Kamui Kobayashi – the car has improved compared to the Prologue and we are making progress. We will try to improve it further before qualifying and then we will do our best to get a good grid position. A tight fight is expected and we look forward to the weekend starting.”
“Overall the feelings were quite positive and I was satisfied with the car in FP2 – added Nyck De Vries – the conditions were consistent today, so we were able to evaluate a couple of setup options we had in mind after the Prologue. There is still some work to do in some areas and to improve our understanding of the tires.”

Tenth fastest time for #8, time set by Ryo Hirakawa: “The conditions were warmer than at the Prologue, so the car and tires behaved slightly differently. We are close to the leaders but not as much as we would like, so we need to improve the lap time a bit. We need to optimize the car for these conditions, as it seems they will remain like this throughout the weekend,” said the Japanese driver.
Today’s schedule includes FP3 at 10:30 and Hypercar class Qualifying at 15:10 followed immediately by Hyperpole at 15:30.
