Resounding failure for the TR-010 Hybrid
After the double podium at Le Mans with a return to victory Toyota had a bad weekend in Brazil. At Interlagos no points arrived for the TR-010 Hybrid and therefore both world championship standings have been completely reopened.

The #7 crew and the BMW #20 crew are tied at the top with 75 points in the Drivers’ standings, in the Constructors’ standings BMW is now -5 from Toyota with Ferrari still in the race at -44 from the Japanese manufacturer.
The team principal and driver of the #7 crew Kamui Kobayashi summed up a weekend that must be a lesson for Toyota: “It was obviously a very difficult race. We lacked competitiveness all week, including the race. We also made a couple of mistakes during the race, which certainly didn’t help. We have to learn from this experience and improve. The fight for the championship is still long, so we will do the necessary analysis and come back stronger in Austin.”
“We knew that after qualifying it wouldn’t be easy, but we hoped to score some good points – said Sebastien Buemi of the #8 crew – the start, in fact, was quite promising. However, the contact practically compromised our race. After that, there was nothing more to do. We simply finished the race as cleanly as possible, hoping for some mishap for the others, which however did not happen.”
