An amazing wing on the Ferrari
During the Bahrain tests, on Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari SF-26, an innovative rear wing capable of flipping over and not just opening, like all the others, appeared. This particular wing obviously captured the attention of both fans and rivals, curious to understand its functioning and the advantages that could derive from such a counter-current solution.
Team principal Frederic Vasseur had said with a smile that internally it was called ‘Macarena‘, specifying that he did not yet have a clear horizon for its introduction in a race weekend.
Technical director Loic Serra then explained that he had identified a regulatory loophole that allowed for maximizing active aerodynamics and the setup assumed by the wing on the straight and had therefore worked on this innovative solution.

When will Ferrari bring the Macarena wing to a race?
Colleagues from AutoRacer.it dedicated an in-depth analysis to the ‘reverse’ wing, highlighting how what was seen in Bahrain was only a prototype to verify its mechanical functioning, to be perfected in the following weeks at the factory in Maranello.
From the test, it was evaluated that the Macarena wing would be capable of giving the SF-26 an extra boost equal to 4-5 kW on the straight.

The technicians are working on a version perfected in opening and closing speed and in design.
When will it be seen in a race weekend? Maranello has set the Canada Grand Prix, the seventh round of the world championship, as the deadline, but with the concrete hope of bringing forward its introduction by a few weeks.
