2027, MotoGP changes
As is well known, next season MotoGP will undergo a real technical revolution. FIM and Dorna have planned these changes with the aim of reducing top speeds, increasing overtakes while simultaneously making races safer and giving even more importance to rider talent. Displacement will be reduced from 1000 to 850cc, each rider will have a maximum of 6 engines available, aerodynamics will be reduced (both the fairing and tail section), lowering devices will be banned (both front and rear), sustainable fuels will be used with smaller tanks and Pirelli tires will replace the current Michelin ones.
The first tests seem to have started off well for Ducati, designed by Gigi Dall’Igna.

Dall’Igna had a crazy idea
In a long interview given to the Australians of MC News, Ducati Corse general manager Gigi Dall’Igna revealed the bold proposal he had made to the new regulations working group, but which was sent back: a hybrid MotoGP.
“Honestly I would have liked to have a small electric motor on the 2027 bikes. At first I pushed for this kind of hybrid bike, but I understand that from a cost perspective it is certainly quite difficult“, admitted Dall’Igna, specifying: “With a solution like this, creativity would become important again.”

The proposal from the head of the Ducati team is not accidental, since Borgo Panigale was the supplier of MotoE from 2023 to 2025: “We worked to build an adequate vehicle. In case we had to produce an electric bike or electric components, we would know what to do. Let’s be clear, at the moment the technology is not yet advanced enough to produce an electric bike and so we do not intend to work on it in the near future. But you never know what might happen, so it’s good to be prepared”, concluded Dall’Igna.
