Tesla has started a process of strengthening the workforce at the German plant in Grunheide, aimed at further increasing production capacity. According to a company spokesperson communicated to Dpa, the first 1,000 employees planned for the first phase of the production increase – from 5,000 to 6,200 vehicles per week – have already been hired. This is an initial step aimed at supporting volume growth without interrupting the factory’s operational flow.

The expansion plan then foresees a further recruitment phase, intended to bring production up to 7,500 vehicles per week. For this second tranche, another 1,000 workers will be gradually added: recruitment will start in September, according to the same spokesperson. In this way Tesla plans the workforce increase in a phased manner, aligning hiring with the industrial milestones of the project.
Contrarian strategy
Tesla’s decision takes place in a context where many other German car manufacturers follow a different direction. While several producers have adopted more cautious or less expansive approaches, Elon Musk’s company instead aims to steadily increase production activity and, consequently, the workforce. In April Tesla had already announced a significant production expansion, linking it to increased demand and confirming the intention to strengthen its capacity in Germany.
