Tech3, Viñales is still out. Pol Espargaró will also race in Aragon

Still stopped

The ordeal of Maverick Viñales continues, whose future in MotoGP now seems really hanging by a very thin thread. The Spaniard, already at odds with KTM and Tech3, remains for the moment still away from the tracks due to his physical problems. Also in Aragon, in fact, the 31-year-old from Figueres will not get on his RC16, leaving it in the hands of test rider Pol Espargaró who had achieved a good 13th place in the race at Silverstone. The news was officially announced directly by the Tech3 team.

This is the fifth race of the season that Viñales will not take part in; besides the British GP, in the first part of the championship Viñales had missed – always due to injury – the GPs of Austin, Jerez, and Le Mans.

Return (maybe) at Misano

Nicolas Goyon, Team Manager of Tech3, stated: “Together with Maverick and KTM, we have decided that Pol will continue with us in Aragón, so that Maverick can continue to focus on his recovery. Pol did an excellent job for the team at Silverstone and, thanks to his experience, he is in the ideal position to replace him again this weekend. The most important thing for us is that Maverick takes the necessary time to recover properly. We are supporting him throughout this process and continue to hope to welcome him back at Misano. Until then, we will focus on Aragon and continue to give Pol and Enea our full support”.
