The Scuderia principal continues to want to maintain a race-by-race approach, without getting too carried away by the enthusiasm of a victory – see Barcelona and Silverstone – nor by pessimism for a Grand Prix where everything went wrong like in Austria. The fact is that the standings speak clearly, with Hamilton just 32 points behind Antonelli also thanks to the many reliability problems that make the Mercedes a very fast but equally fragile car.
In Maranello everyone only looks at the World Championship
Yet at Ferrari the situation appears very different from what was described by the number one at the pit wall. This was confirmed by Pino Allievi in the Q&A of FormulaPassion.it, responding to the question of whether it is actually wrong to talk about a Red fighting for the World Championship.
“I immediately deny Vasseur: at Ferrari they only talk about the World Championship – reiterated Allievi – That is, Ferrari cares little about winning other Grand Prix. Ferrari hasn’t won for ages, 18-20 years, so it only has to win the World Championship. They have waited too long, they hired Vasseur to bring Ferrari to the World Championship. They are well on their way, but it is a total falsehood to say that Ferrari does not think about the title“.
“Everyone thinks about it, Hamilton thinks about it, Leclerc thinks about it, Vasseur thinks about it, everyone else thinks about it, from the first to the last employee. So I don’t understand why always blaming the press for lies that are also half accusations. Like saying ‘ah, the press sets us goals, puts pressure on us’. But it’s a petty thing. Ferrari must not do this. Ferrari races to win the World Championship, not to win a Grand Prix. Let’s clarify this, then we can move on”.
