Leclerc towards Spa
On the approach to Silverstone, Charles Leclerc was overwhelmed by criticism (some justifiable, others less so) for a series of negative results that had brought him 92 points from the top of the World Championship and -46 from teammate Lewis Hamilton. However, at the home of Sir Lewis and George Russell, an unexpected victory arrived, the first after a year and eight months of drought.
Luck, which turns its back on him whenever it can, was for once on his side, stopping the deadly advance of Kimi Antonelli on the 41st lap of the British GP. Leclerc knows this, and also knows that it will be essential to maintain balance: he can certainly learn from team principal Frederic Vasseur (the first to act as a firefighter in moments of enthusiasm and as a motivator in more difficult times), less so from the many media trumpeters who adapt facts to opinions and not vice versa.
Leclerc’s words
The Monegasque believes that his adaptation process to the SF-26 is far from over: “I haven’t been through a good situation. We are still at the beginning, Silverstone was just one race and I must not get carried away with euphoria thinking the battle is over. The fight with this car has been quite tough lately and I can’t take it for granted that it is now behind me. I will continue to work and try to experience these feelings more often from now on“.

“These cars are very particular, different from those we have driven since we started racing, so it takes a bit more time to get used to them. I was very competitive in the first part of the season, then I lost a bit of feeling with the car“, he added. “We made quite a few changes to the car and it took a bit more time than I would have liked to get back to the level I wanted“.
