The historic Stellantis plant in Poissy, on the outskirts of Paris, will stop producing cars and during 2030 will convert the industrial area into a factory dedicated to components, refurbishment, and recycling of used vehicles. At the site, currently used for the production of DS and Opel Mokka, the transformation has already started with an investment planned of 100 million euros. La Stampa in this morning’s edition reports that the goal is to ensure continuity of the plant’s production role, securing an industrial future even after the end of vehicle production.

Stellantis changes strategy in Poissy
Between voluntary exits and retirements, about a thousand workers will remain, called to operate in a new production model focused on the circular economy. The heart of the reconversion will be a new industrial focus aimed at supporting customers throughout the entire vehicle lifecycle. This ranges from extending the lifespan to transforming the vehicle up to recovering its value. As explained by Eric Haan, plant director, components will be produced in Poissy for both new vehicles and the aftermarket, with the introduction of a new line dedicated to dismantling parts and components to allow their re-entry into the market. In addition to regeneration activities, there will be pathways for preparing vehicles for specific uses, including special editions and programs related to the racing world for customers, as well as the conversion of some new light commercial vehicles or those designed for corporate fleets.

Car production will cease
The transformation of Poissy is part of a broader framework of industrial reorganization of the group. In France, Stellantis will maintain four plants dedicated to car production (Mulhouse and Sochaux, in addition to Rennes), and an additional plant for commercial vehicles in Hordain. At the same time, the group led by Antonio Filosa has also announced a five-year agreement with Microsoft to accelerate digital transformation, focusing on AI, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure.
