The Italian driver is still the leader, but now he has ‘only’ 25 points advantage over George Russell and 32 over Lewis Hamilton, with Charles Leclerc closing the top-4 at -71.
After surprising everyone at Silverstone, Spa will be an important test for the Ferrari to find out if the SF-26 can actually compete for both World titles against a Mercedes that is indeed fast, but at the same time ‘fragile’ and prone to technical knockouts.

According to Gunther Steiner Lewis Hamilton will not fulfill the dream of winning the eighth world title this season: “Mercedes is too strong – said the former team principal now engaged in MotoGP – but if Lewis has the right car, he can still fight in the top positions. It was important for him to finally manage to win with Ferrari. No one will ever take that away from him. This will give him an extra boost. Is Hamilton taking Ferrari? The more Ferrari focuses on Lewis, the more difficult the situation becomes for Leclerc, even though he is not at all slower, as we saw at Silverstone.”
