Before its world debut at the Paris Motor Show, scheduled for October 2026, Smart has released three official photos of the new #2. The car appears with a special black and white camouflage livery as it is carrying out an articulated global testing program. It still has a “work in progress” setup, designed not to reveal too many definitive details in advance. The images confirm a clear desire to refine every aspect of the project before its public preview.

Smart #2 approaches its debut
In the test centers, where typical city driving conditions are recreated, work focuses on key components such as steering, chassis, and suspension system. The goal is to ensure the new-generation two-seater BEV has the right balance between agility in changes of direction and stability in emergency situations, without sacrificing high driving comfort. To make the new Smart also excel in terms of comfort, the brand has activated an NVH validation program. With one objective: to measure and reduce noise, vibrations, and harshness. All in different environments, from wind tunnels to closed tracks and open roads.
Undercover tests
In parallel, the brand has worked on the selection of tire compounds tested on uneven asphalt, grooved concrete, and high-speed straights, seeking a compromise between lower rolling resistance and better acoustic insulation. In terms of reliability, the new #2 has also undergone severe durability tests on irregular surfaces, continuous undulations, and urban routes with potholes and rough patches, including typical scenarios such as climbing a curb or impacting deep depressions. Supporting these objectives is the optimization of chassis rigidity at specific points. Finally, the basic structure, namely the new-generation tridion safety cell, ensures solidity and protection, with a setup oriented towards stability and safety over time.
