Red Bull, time to reorganize
Red Bull Racing is reorganizing on the technical front, although not exactly – and not directly – in response to the departure of Gianpiero Lambiase, announced by McLaren but still regularly in his place at the pit wall alongside Max Verstappen at least until the end of the 2027 season. Rather, the Milton Keynes team is strengthening the pool of engineers directly under Pierre Waché, who many sources say is struggling given the poor start to the World Championship despite the surprisingly positive performance of the first power unit developed in collaboration with Ford.

The “news” coming
For this reason, the French technical director, who is said to be playing a good part of his future in the team in Miami, will have the immediate help of Ben Waterhouse. Starting today, the English engineer becomes head of the performance and design department, responsible for the design and performance of the vehicle, reporting directly to Waché. For Waterhouse, who is 46 years old, this is an internal promotion, given his long tenure in the Red Bull family: he arrived at Toro Rosso as deputy technical director in 2014 from Bmw-Sauber, and since 2017 he has been head of engineering performance for the Milton Keynes team.

This is not the only reorganization at Red Bull: starting July 1, Max Verstappen’s team will have the Italian engineer Andrea Landi as head of performance, reporting directly to Ben Waterhouse. Landi is the former deputy head of performance at Ferrari and deputy technical director at Racing Bulls after the departure of Jody Egginton. This is also an internal promotion rather than a true external acquisition, as the resource was already under contract with the Faenza team. Landi also has considerable experience within the Red Bull family, having worked in F1 at Toro Rosso as the track engineer for Spanish driver Jaime Alguersuari before joining from Ferrari.
