Yamaha at the bottom of the standings
The black crisis of Yamaha continues unabated in this first part of the championship, with further negative results materializing at Jerez de la Frontera. On the circuit where Fabio Quartararo achieved victory in 2020, the year he subsequently celebrated his MotoGP world title, the Frenchman crossed the finish line only in 14th position, confirming the difficulties suffered by the Japanese manufacturer with the V4 engine.

Two riders, two total points
For Quartararo, it is still a final points finish, as happened in the Sprint race, but his brief comment highlighted all his dissatisfaction: “I tried to ride differently to see if it helped, but it didn’t work. Tomorrow (referring to the tests) we will resume the work started over the weekend.”
Out of the points, with the 16th place final, teammate Alex Rins, who had also arrived at the Spanish Grand Prix with the certainty of not continuing his career at Yamaha for next season, as confirmed by the team: “It was a difficult weekend. For my part, I’m quite happy because our pace was better than I expected. Overall, I tried to fight until the rear tire gave up, but when the front also gave up, it became difficult for me to ride and lean as I wanted. Let’s see what we have available to try in tomorrow’s tests and if we can improve the bike a bit.”
