The team manager’s explanation
“In 90% of cases, crashes are the rider’s fault, but sometimes it’s better not to look for the reason behind some slides.” Marc Marquez, in front of the TV microphones, thus dismissed the slide in Turn 11 that ended his Spanish GP after less than two laps, shortly after being overtaken by his brother Alex in Turn 6.
“Marc entered Turn 11 like a madman to stay behind you,” observed Marco Bezzecchi in the post-podium area at the end of the race with Alex Marquez who, like Fabio Di Giannantonio, emphasized that there was a lot of wind in that section of the track.

The wind was also mentioned by Davide Tardozzi who analyzed Marc Marquez’s crash on the microphones of Sky: “In Turn 11 and Turn 12, Marc Marquez had problems since Friday morning – the words of the Ducati team manager – unfortunately yesterday there was also some wind, the load on the front was not what it should have been and essentially the bike there lifted slightly and lost front grip.”
