Cadillac and its beginning
As easily predictable in its debut year in Formula 1, Cadillac is currently in the most remote positions of the Constructors’ standings, but the US team has nonetheless made significant steps forward. Despite not having obtained any points, both drivers came close to finishing all of the first three races, with this goal not achieved on only one occasion by Valtteri Bottas in Australia. On the contrary, Sergio Perez has always managed to pass under the checkered flag, establishing 15th place in China as his personal best result (in the same race Bottas did even better with 13th position).

The criticism from ‘Piedone’
Km covered and data that could prove decisive for the progress of the single-seater, but in all this, Cadillac board member Mario Andretti has not hidden a certain disappointment in his drivers. According to the Italian-American, 1978 world champion, both would be “a bit rusty” after a year of absence from racing, a statement that ‘Piedone’ released right at the end of the Chinese GP.

‘Checo’s’ response
In this regard, Perez himself intervened, who does not believe at all that he is suffering in his driving condition: “To be honest, I think we had very high-level performances – he explained to the media – in particular, I was very happy with my weekend in Melbourne. My first qualifying satisfied me enough. In the race, we had very different scenarios. We suffered a lot of damage. So it wasn’t easy at all. Shanghai wasn’t an easy weekend either. I suffered a lot of damage in the race. So, let’s say, I didn’t have a complete weekend. But I think in terms of performance, I’m quite satisfied. I came back and was immediately competitive within a couple of days. I am in a good moment regarding my driving“.
