The confirmation of adverse forecasts for the afternoon in Miami puts Formula 1 on alert. After declaring the Rain Hazard on the eve of qualifying, which will allow teams to intervene on wing heights and angles before the race even under parc fermé conditions, the FIA has officially brought forward the race start time.

Start brought forward by three hours
The official program of the Miami Grand Prix scheduled the race start on Sunday at 16 local time, 22 in Italy. The arrival of a worrying disturbance, with heavy rain showers and possible lightning in the circuit area convinced the Federation to bring forward the lights out to 13 local time, 19 Italian time.
However, the choice does not exclude the possibility of still having a wet or rain-affected race. Forecasts agree that some disturbances could affect Miami from the early morning hours, but the hope is to intercept a time window with less intense showers allowing, indeed, the running of the GP.

“After intense discussions between the FIA, Formula 1 and the Miami Grand Prix organizer, the decision was made to bring forward the start of the Miami Grand Prix by three hours – reads the Federation’s note – This is due to adverse weather forecasts, which announce heavy thunderstorms in the late afternoon on Sunday and near the originally scheduled start time.”
“This decision was made to minimize disruptions to the race, to ensure the maximum possible time window to complete the Grand Prix in the best conditions and to give priority to safety of drivers, fans, teams and staff.”
