Red Bull, Lambiase’s farewell is a reality
This morning’s rumors regarding Gianpiero Lambiase‘s departure from Red Bull were quickly confirmed. The Head of Race Engineering and Max Verstappen’s race engineer will leave the Milton Keynes team in 2028, at the expiration of his current contract, to join McLaren, where he will hold the role of Chief Racing Officer and report directly to team principal Andrea Stella.

The statement
“Red Bull Racing confirms that Gianpiero Lambiase will leave the team in 2028, at the expiration of his current contract. “GP” is a valued member of the Team, which he has been part of since 2015,” reads the Red Bull note. “Until his departure, scheduled for 2028, “GP” will continue to hold the roles of Head of Race Engineering and Max Verstappen’s race engineer. The team and he are fully committed to adding further successes to our already solid track record.”

The future at McLaren
McLaren convinced Lambiase with a very significant offer and a role of great responsibility: he will practically be Stella’s right-hand man. Here is the statement from the papaya team: “McLaren is pleased to announce that Gianpiero Lambiase will join the team as Chief Racing Officer, reporting to team principal Andrea Stella. The role of Chief Racing Officer already exists within the team structure and involves the overall leadership of the racing team. These duties are currently managed by Stella, in addition to his role as team principal. Lambiase is the latest acquisition aimed at strengthening and supporting the existing talent pool at McLaren, while reaffirming the team’s long-term commitment to consolidating its position as a championship-winning team. The team’s ability to attract and secure top talent, such as Lambiase and, previously, Rob Marshall and Will Courtenay, in addition to the retention and promotion of highly talented individuals already within the team, is a testament to the strategic vision and culture that are integral to McLaren under the leadership of Zak Brown and Andrea Stella, both of whom are on long-term contracts. The team looks forward to welcoming Gianpiero Lambiase upon the expiration of his current contract, no later than 2028.”
