The Australian Grand Prix 2025 was marked by perfection for Lando Norris, who achieved pole position, the victory, and the fastest lap at the Melbourne circuit. A year that the McLaren Englishman closed with the conquest of his first world title, and which he will have to defend starting this weekend right in Australia, where he will appear with the #1 printed on the nose of his MCL40. A mission that the Woking team, winner of the last Constructors’ world championship, will also have to accomplish.
In the interviews given to the media while waiting for free practice, scheduled from 22:50 tomorrow evening, the reigning world champion first underlined his enthusiasm ahead of the start of the new season: “I am excited to be back – he commented – I have always had fun here. It is always a nice place to start the season, there is good weather and it is just another year to look forward to. There are many opportunities, more races to try to win to celebrate. We did well in Bahrain; nothing to get too excited about, but we know we are in a good place. I am just excited to start and we will find out more about our position in the coming days.”

The Briton, however, remains cautious. After pre-season testing, the reigning champion believes there are differences between this year’s car and that of 2025, especially in the first phase of the season, but expressing a certain tranquility in the team’s work: “I certainly have good confidence in myself, which is always a nice way to start the season, as well as in the team. We probably don’t have the same level of confidence in our absolute speed compared to what we had at the start of last year, but we are confident in our ability to get back to where we want to be during the season. It’s not like we arrive here and are sure to win, but in recent years, in particular two or three years ago, we managed to turn things around in a season where everything revolved around development and updates, learning about the cars. This has been one of our greatest strengths in recent years. It doesn’t matter where we finish here, in China or in the first races of the season: we are confident that during the year we will be able to get back to where we really want to be, and it’s something we are all looking forward to.”
