Norris, what a risk
About an hour after the end of the Miami Sprint Qualifying where he achieved a nice pole position, Lando Norris received a notification from the Stewards, summoning him to discuss a possible regulatory infraction.
The English McLaren driver was put under the stewards’ microscope for having “driven unreasonably slowly during Qualifying.”

From the document published by the Federation, after hearing Norris, it emerged that McLaren #1 exceeded the 1″48 time limit between the Safety Car lines clarified in the Race Director’s Notes.
However, the Stewards decided not to penalize Norris because the data showed he stayed below the delta time for almost the entire lap, up to Turn 17, when he was overtaken by Nico Hulkenberg’s Audi. This maneuver forced the Englishman to react and create adequate space to then set up his fast lap.
The FIA considered this a mitigating factor sufficient to exonerate Lando Norris.
