Back on track after a month of discussions (and decisions)
We have finally entered the week that will lead us to the Miami Grand Prix, with which Formula 1 will reopen the season put on hold for over a month due to the cancellations of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian races. These weeks, however, as is known, have been crucial as F1, FIA and teams have intervened on the much-discussed technical regulations introduced this year, trying to iron out the problems that emerged in the first three rounds of the year.

Despite the Circus’s staunch defense of these new rules by CEO Stefano Domenicali, it is evident that a good portion of the drivers were not at all happy with the situation that had arisen in terms of on-track spectacle and safety at the start of this season. The changes deliberated by F1 and FIA actually seemed less substantial than expected, but they at least tried to mitigate some of the most serious and worrying problems.
Good, but not great
A comment that can be considered ‘summarizing’ the drivers’ position was provided by the GPDA director Alex Wurz, speaking to *ORF* TV. A kind of **’good, but not great’** was the thought expressed by the former Austrian driver, who in recent weeks had emphasized how **the drivers were all very proactive** in suggesting solutions and ideas to the FIA: “***We are not there yet***,” Wurz observed, “***but overall the changes represent a step in the right direction***.” We will see if any of the drivers in Miami will want to go even further in evaluating these novelties.
