The MG GO! concept car is much more than just a “taste” of the future B-segment electric hatchback that the brand will launch in 2027. It is a clear idea of how to bring aspiration and appeal to the mainstream electric world. The project combines a retro-futuristic design with a deeply recognizable DNA, inspired by the most iconic MG models of the mid-20th century, with an ideal reference to the elegance of an MGB GT. In this way, the brand reinterprets the British spirit in a contemporary key, creating a compact car that does not just recall the past, but tries to make it a source of aesthetic energy for today.

MG GO! debuts at Goodwood
The concept, along with the future production model, is born from the MG Design Centre in London, led by Carl Gotham. The declared goal is not to create a nostalgic car, but something current, capable of being balanced, playful, and captivating in a competitive segment like compact cars. To achieve this result, the stylistic language is deliberately essential: a limited number of key elements that evoke historical qualities of the brand, such as the presence and everyday elegance of the MGB GT, without weighing down the whole with excesses. The impression is of a “carefully detailed” form, yet light in interpretation, with an identity that aims to leave a mark.
More than a mere styling exercise
And above all, the MG GO! is not just a styling exercise. It is designed to build an emotional connection. The car intends to pay homage to the past without slipping into sentimentality, aiming to be evocative as some sporty and characterful MGs have been, from the MGB GT to the MG Metro Turbo, up to the MG ZR and MG EX4. “With the new MG GO! we wanted to create something compact and contemporary, but also welcoming, expressive, and immediately captivating, an embodiment of everything we admire about the MG brand. It is not about looking at the past for its own sake, but about capturing part of the clarity, charm, and emotional appeal that have always made MG so distinctive, reinterpreting them so they feel current and, above all, creating something with strong charisma,” said Carl Gotham, Design Director of Advanced Design in London.
