Mercedes-Benz has announced the possibility of configuring and ordering the new GLB hybrid, which joins its 100% electric sister, offering a starting price of 49.516 euros for the 180 ADVANCED version with 136 hp (+22 kW). The hybrid range is designed to satisfy different needs: it is available with two- or four-wheel drive and in three power variants, 136, 163, and 190 hp, all combined with a 48-volt electric motor that ensures an overboost of approximately 30 hp. Four equipment lines, ADVANCED, ADVANCED PLUS, PREMIUM and PREMIUM PLUS, guarantee extensive customization possibilities and protect the value of the equipment over time.

New Mercedes GLB hybrid
The interior is completely redesigned and accommodates up to seven people thanks to the configuration that goes from 5 to 7 seats. The exterior design instead mixes off-road references with recognizable lines and a strong character. Let’s go back inside: the innovative Superscreen enriches the onboard experience and offers a versatile interface that transcends simple practicality and supports the driver intuitively. On the efficiency front, the GLB 180 stands out for fuel consumption of less than 6 liters per 100 km.
New hybrid turbo petrol engine
The heart of the range is the new 1.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid turbo petrol engine, developed to combine performance and savings. It adopts the Miller cycle for combustion, which thanks to the early closing of the intake valves reduces pumping losses and allows a high compression ratio of 12:1, with benefits especially in partial load conditions. From a construction point of view, the engine integrates advanced technical solutions: an aluminum crankcase with NANOSLIDE coating on the cylinder liners, a cylinder head with a partially integrated exhaust manifold, and a turbocharger with a segmented turbine and switchable spiral duct.

Front-wheel or all-wheel drive
The charge air path is compact and the exhaust system is mounted close to the engine to optimize the “one‑box” architecture, designed to meet future emission standards. As standard, the 48-volt electric refrigerant compressor, inherited from the M 256 engine, reduces friction and allows air conditioning even when the vehicle is stationary or in electric mode. Customers can choose, as mentioned, between the three available power outputs, 136, 163 and 190 hp, with the contribution of 22 kW from the electric motor and opt for front-wheel or 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
