This morning’s news is the approval by the Council of Ministers of the new decree law that extends the cut in fuel excise duties until the end of April. The first decree law, launched on March 18, was due to expire on April 7. An extension that is not surprising: in recent days the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure had in fact already announced this measure, only official confirmation was missing. Which arrived in the morning, as also confirmed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Meloni comments on the extension of the excise duty cut
In fact, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also expressed her views on the subject. “The Government intervened today with a new decree to extend the reduction of excise duties on fuels, expanding the measure with a targeted intervention to support farmers and exporting companies”, the Prime Minister wrote in a post on social media. “Only in this way can we face a particularly delicate phase, marked by international tensions that are producing concrete effects on energy costs and the economy”, Meloni added.
